CRIMINAL RECORD EXPUNGEMENT
What is an expungement?
Expungement is the legal process through which an arrest or conviction may be erased from a person’s criminal record.
After expungement, no information related to the arrest or conviction may be disclosed, with certain exceptions. It allows you to start a new, fresh life.
While law enforcement officials may always have access to your criminal history, expungement can keep your record clean in the eyes of employers, schools, and the general public.
What records can be expunged?
Arrest records, criminal convictions, and juvenile adjudications can all be expunged in Kansas. Depending on the jurisdiction in which the arrest or conviction occurred, expungement may:
- Not be available at all.
- Be an option for arrests, but not for convictions.
- Be an option only for certain criminal convictions.
- Be an option only for arrests and/or convictions that occurred while the offender was a juvenile.
- Be available only after a person is acquitted (cleared) of an offense (i.e., charges are dismissed).
- Be possible only when a criminal conviction is reversed (i.e., after a successful appeal of the conviction).

OUR TESTIMONIALS
“We chose Shawnah as she was highly recommended from a friend. Her knowledge and experience in the foster care system helped us through a difficult adoption. She was straight forward with us, understood our concerns, and we appreciated her willingness to fight for us!”

Foster Care/Adoption Case
“As a father in the state of Kansas, obtaining and continuing to obtain custody is almost unheard of. I am proud to say I represent the small group to which this applies thanks to Shawnah and her expertise. Her ethical standards and her ability to make you feel like your fight is her fight is second to none.”
-Trevin H.
Custody Case
“Interviewing many attorneys for my divorce I went with Shawnah because her first concern was my children rather than the financial portion of the divorce. All the other attorneys wanted to do discuss was how hard the financial issues of the divorce would be tricky or hard. My first concern was making sure my children were safe. Shawnah has always worked toward their safety.”
